The One Who Is says:

Behold!

I am creating a new heaven and a new earth.
Rejoice and be happy forever in what I am creating.
For I shall create Jerusalem as joy, and her people as delight …….

Even before you pray, I will answer;
even as you ask, I will respond.

——- Isaiah 65:17-24

The new heaven and new earth are simply the old heaven and the old earth seen with new eyes. Do not imagine that the world is other than it was. Rather, be aware that you are seeing it as it is for the first time.

Joy and delight rather than fear and shame are the hallmarks of the awakened soul. This is how you know that you are on the right path. If each step brings joy to you and others; if each step is a delight to self and stranger; if your every step is peaceful, gentle, just, and kind, then you are on the Path. If not, then not. Return once more.

When you awaken to God as the One Who Is all that is, you no longer imagine yourself on a spiritual quest or search. You have and are all you need. Your prayer and the answer to your prayer are one: connection to God. Your request and the answer to your request are one: alignment with God. Each step is the first step. Each step is the last step. There is nowhere to go. You have arrived without going anywhere.

The prophet Isaiah says:

The One Who Is will see to your needs, though you will need little.
You will see beyond the material, the Teacher will no longer be obscured from view, and you will see your Teacher clearly.

And if you wander from the Path, either to the right or to the left, your ears will hear and you will heed the councel:
“This is the path, walk it.”

——- Isaiah 30:20-21

Your hunger for material goods was driven by your urge to fill a void you imagined within you. When you awaken to God, the void is seen as illusory. You lack nothing and need little. You live simply, not by choice, but by design. It is not that you choose to rein in your desires, but that without the false hunger driving you, you discover that you no longer have those desires at all.

God is all, and everything will teach you.

Your deviation will spark the hearing, just as smoke sets off a smoke alarm. It is immediate and strong. The way of God is straight and is walked without wobbling. Tipping right or left suggests a drunkenness of the self on selfishness, and is quietly corrected so that the despair and destruction of the past need never be repeated. This does not mean that you will not stumble on the path, but only that you will pick yourself up quickly and return to the way.

The One Who Is says:

The wolf will live with the lamb;
the leopard lie down with the kid;
the calf, the lion cub, and the fatling will walk together and a little child will lead them.

The cow and the bear shall graze the same pasture, and their young shall lie down together;
and the lion, like the ox, shall eat straw.
A baby will play over a viper’s hole, and an infant pass his hand over an adder’s den.

In all of My sacred mount there shall be no evil or injury;
for the earth shall be as filled with devotion to Me as the ocean is covered with the water of the sea.

——- Isaiah 11:6-9

The little child is you at your simplest and most spiritual. In a similar vein, Jesus taught that until you become like little children you cannot enter the Kingdom of Heaven. The idea is to be like a child and not a child once more. That is, you are to regain the open-hearted curiosity of the child, and it is this childlike wonder and amazement at life that will reveal to you the divine nature of living.

Violence and fear are at the root of the deluded and delusional world imagined by the small self. These are totally absent when you awaken to God as the One Who Is.

The One Who Is says:

In the days to come …

Torah shall go forth from Zion, the word of the One Who Is from Jerusalem …

You will beat your swords into plowshares and your spears into pruning knives.
Nation will not lift up sword against nation; nor will you study war any more.

Rather you will sit under your vine and your fig tree, and be unafraid.

For it is I, the One Who Is, who speaks.
Though you will walk your own path, you will still walk to Me, the One Who Is throughout time and eternity.

——- Micah 4:1-5

Even if you are not yet awake, know that awakening awaits you. This hope is the promise God makes to you personally. It is rooted in the fact of your unity with God. It is not that someday you will be different than you are now. It is that someday — this day — you will discover who you really are and have been since the beginning.

Zion is both the land of Israel and the land beneath your feet when you are awake to the fact that the whole earth is filled with God. Jerusalem is the capital of Israel, and also Yiru Shalem, the City of Peace and Wholeness that reveals itself to you when you are whole and at peace. Torah is the teaching that flows from being aligned with the holiness of place and the wholeness of heart.

War doesn’t come naturally to people; it must be taught and learned. When the learning ceases, when we are no longer taught to hate the stranger, the natural compassion of human for human arises spontaneously.

Fear is the killer, and fearlessness the mark of the awake and aware human being.

The unity of humankind envisioned by the prophets is a unity through diversity. Your uniqueness will be valued as the means by which God explores the endless facets of embodied existence.

The One Who Is says:

Earth! Don’t be afraid; rejoice and be glad …….

Beasts! Don’t he afraid; the pastures are once again clothed with sweet grass.
The trees are fruitful; fig tree and vine are laden with fruit.

Humans! Be glad and rejoice!
The One Who Is has given You teachers of righteousness and has brought the rains in their season, early and late;
your granaries are piled high with grain;
your barrels overflow with wine and oil …….

You will eat your fill …….
and you shall know that I am in your midst;
that I am the One Who Is and there is nothing else.
And you will never he ashamed again.

——- Joel 2:21-27

Fear drives out joy and invites shame. Awakening to your true self, you have no need to be afraid. Without fear there is no shame. There is only the humble acceptance of your deeds and their consequences. And because you realize that the one begets the other, you are careful to do well by yourself and others so as to set in motion a healing future and not a hurtful one.

The One Who Is says:

I will return you to your place, and cause you to dwell securely.
You shall be Mine and I will be yours.

I will give you a single heart and a single path: awe of Me; and in this way will things be well with you and your children.

——- Jeremiah 32:37-39

This is your place, this place you happen to be at just this moment. When God returns you to your place, you are not moved from one spot to another, but are suddenly aware that this spot was the very spot for which you have been searching all your life.

The security of the awakened heart is the surety that all things change, and that there is nothing that need be done about it.

Until this awakening occurs, you are not yet part of God’s people, nor is God truly your God. Until this awakening, you continue to worship the idol of self, the gods of power, control, and permanence. It is only when your gods fail you, only when you are crushed beneath the weight of your own ignorance, injustice, and cruelty, that you can see the invalid nature of your idols and turn to God, the One Who Is the turning itself.

The One Who Is says:

Days are coming when I will seal a new covenant with you.
It will be a different covenant than that which I made with your ancestors …….
This is the covenant I will make with you:
I shall place My Torah within you;
I will write My Teaching on your heart;
then I will he your God and you will be My child.

Then you will no longer need teachers and sages urging you to know Me, for you shall know Me naturally;
from the smallest among you to the greatest, all will know Me.
And I will forgive you all your errors, and let fade all memory of your wickedness.

——- Jeremiah 31:30-34

To be God’s woman or man, you have to awaken to the inner teaching of justice, kindness, and humility. You have to feel not commanded but compelled to do what is right. How do you awaken to this inner Torah? By turning from selfishness to selflessness; by doing justly; by loving mercy; by walking humbly with God manifest as all things.

Teachers and their teachings are to God what a menu is to a meal. They point to something other than themselves. When the meal is served, of what use is the menu? Put it aside and eat. Taste for yourself and see the nature of God manifest in and as all things — including yourself.

The One Who Is says:

My breath is always within you.  Fear not!

——- Haggai 2:5

Do not imagine that this new breath is different from your last breath or your next breath. It is this breath, now, and now again. And when you know the truth of God breathing within you, you know the truth of your unity with God, in God, as God. You are no longer alone; no longer a stranger. You are the One Who Is and you are at one with all. And with this knowing comes a liberation from fear that makes you at last ready for love.

The One Who Is says:

I am with you.

——- Haggai 1:13

In one sentence Haggai summarizes the message of the prophets: God is with you. How might you understand the nearness of God? Listen to what God says in Deuteronomy:

It is not in the sky, that you should say, “Who among us can go up to the heavens and get it for us and teach it to us, that we may observe it?” Neither is it beyond the sea, that you should say, “Who among us can cross the ocean and get it for us and impart it to us, that we may observe it?” No, the thing is very close to you, in your mouth and in your heart, to observe it (Deuteronomy 30:12-14).

The “thing” is the way of godliness. It is in your mouth, that your speech be healing rather than hurtful. It is in your heart, that you nurture compassion rather than hatred. And by turning your lips and your heart to holiness, you observe the way and walk it. When you walk in the way of God, you walk with the awareness that God is with you, in you, is you. This is what the prophets are telling you: The way is near; turn to it, and be healed.

The One Who Is says:

I will give you a new heart and put new breath into you:  I will remove the heart of stone from your body, and give you a heart of flesh.

I will put My breath into you, and in this way you will follow all My decrees and faithfully observe My ordinances.

——- Ezekiel 36:26-28

What is this new heart? It is a heart undefended, fearless; open to the suffering of others without hiding in the drama of self. It is the awakened heart that allows the full range of feelings to wash over you without your being blown away by them.

What is this new breath? It is your next breath, if you would but awaken to the One Who Is here, now, and always.

You follow God best from the inside out. Each breath brings you into the present moment. Each breath is an opportunity to know the One Who Is as what is happening in, with, and around you. With this knowing comes the way of God, the way of justice, compassion, and humility — not as rules imposed from without, but as a subtle truth informing you from within.
